1.1. Rationale: Pyogenic liver abscess is a severe and universally fatal disease without a cure. It has a non-specific clinical and laboratory pattern and a slow evolution. The incidence of pyogenic liver abscess is variable, ranging from 1.1 to 17 cases per 1000 inhabitants. It has nonspecific clinical signs and symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, and jaundice.
