Perioperative Management of Crohn’s Disease

1. Introduction

Crohn’s Disease (CD) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory disease that affects the entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract from the mouth to the anus, along with extraintestinal manifestations. The inflammation is granulomatous and involves the full thickness of the bowel wall. It is characterized by its skipped lesions pattern, mesenteric fat wrapping and formation of strictures and fistulas.
