Purpose: The purpose of this retrospective chart review was to answer the following question: Among patients prescribed the antibiotic clindamycin compared to patients prescribed a beta lactam antibiotic such as penicillin or amoxicillin, do they have a have an increased risk of surgical site infection postoperatively?
